Frequently Asked Questions

Many of our patients have questions about chiropractic care and what it involves. Christina Angelos, D.C. provides the answers to a few of the most frequently asked questions below.

Q: What’s wrong with me?

Our top priority is to find the answer to this question. This will depend on your age, health history and current conditions. When you visit us for a consultation, we’ll do an examination and run some tests to best determine what is going on in with your health. Dr. Christina will share her findings with you and then together you will come up with a care plan to get you healthy.

Q: Can you help me?

If you a have a problem that can be helped by chiropractic, we’ll discuss that with you. If it’s something we can’t help with, Dr. Christina will refer you to a specialist who is able to assist you.

Q: How long will it take?

The healing process varies from person to person depending upon the issue they are experiencing. Dr. Christina will be happy to discuss that with you after she’s examined you and has an idea of what’s happening in your body.

Q: How much will it cost?

This will vary depending on the type of chiropractic care you need. We will fully discuss financials with you on your first visit, so you know exactly what to expect. We’ll work with you on a payment plan if needed.

We accept cash, credit card, Medicare, workers compensation and personal injury cases, as well as Bay Bucks and bitcoin.

We always want to work with you to get you the care you need.  Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Q: How safe is chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is very safe. We do a thorough examination involving several different tests to ensure we know exactly what’s happening in your body and how our care can help. Chiropractic care is backed by research that shows it’s safe and effective for all ages.

Q: Why do I have to keep going back?

Put simply, you don’t. Your care with us is always your choice. People who have chronic injuries, work certain jobs, or who choose to be on maintenance or wellness care (aka preventative care), may come in more often, and some patients come in once a year or twice a year for a wellness check-up.

We educate our patients that coming to a chiropractor for regular care, is like going for regular check-ups with any other health care provider, such as an MD or dentist. You come in for regular care not only to prevent bigger problems down the road but also because you’ll feel great and function better because of it. You’ll be able to get back to the activities you used to enjoy and/or optimize your performance in activities you currently enjoy, and your quality of life will be higher.

Q: Will I hurt more afterwards?

This can happen occasionally to patients and is usually muscle soreness. With a chiropractic adjustment we’re telling your body to move in ways that it hasn’t done for a while, if at all. Whether lack of movement is due to a new injury or something that’s been stuck for years, moving these stuck areas, correcting the misalignment, is all part of the process of healing and getting your body back to recognizing a balanced state. We’ll always discuss this with you before starting care, so you’ll know exactly what to expect, as well as closely monitor your progress and symptoms.

Q: Can children go to a chiropractor?

Chiropractic is great for children and Dr. Christina loves seeing them! Chiropractic care is a conservative and natural (drug-free, non-surgical) approach to healthcare that promotes a child’s optimal growth and development. It will also boost their immunity! Parents report less illness, fewer sick days, less medication and antibiotics for children under regular chiropractic care.

The birthing process can be traumatic for a baby, and we’re able to check your newborn to make sure they are not suffering with any misalignments that may be interfering with the functioning of their delicate nervous system. Research suggests misalignments in newborns may cause common conditions such as colic, irritability, and feeding problems

Also, for pregnant women, with the aches and pains that being an expectant mom brings, chiropractic care is highly effective. There is even a chiropractic technique (Webster’s) that has shown great results in turning breech babies to the head down position in preparation for the birthing process!

Q: Is it uncomfortable to be adjusted?

Dr. Christina uses very gentle techniques and makes sure you’re as comfortable as possible and fully informed of what care will involve before moving forward. If Dr. Christina anticipates that a certain adjustment may cause discomfort, she will always discuss this with you first. In most cases, people love coming in for their adjustments. It often feels wonderful and relaxing to get motion into your stuck parts.
